Principle 10: Prospect for Probable Purchasers to Build Your Business Organically

“Take it for granted that everyone can buy, rather than determining without an interview that some people will not buy.”—John Patterson

Every business wants more customers. For blogging, that equates to readers. Every blog wants more readers and more readers should lead to more conversions. The problem is, where are the readers, how to get them to read your blog, and (even more importantly) how to keep them reading it.

Your prospecting tools for your blog include the quality of the information you post, your participation on other blogs and social media sites, your RSS feeds, and many other technological choices too numerous to mention.
But what about your own mental attitude? Can that be improved so your prospecting methods are more successful? Mr. Patterson, the marketing guru of old, would say yes.

Here are some personal affirmations that can have a big impact on your blog prospecting:

1. I work hard on my blog.

2. I bring solid value to my blog.

3. I’m responsive to my blog readers.

4. I’m honest with my readers.

5. I build a great blogging reputation.

6. I post regularly to my blog to stay in front of my readers.

As your prospecting efforts and mental attitude grow, your site will grow–at first through your own efforts, and then through referrals.

Rather than affirmations, better to DO than to just AFFIRM. An affirmation takes no action. Action is a necessary part of bringing about any change in a circumstance’s status, don’t you agree?

If one focuses on carrying out the necessary actions, one’s goals for those actions are bound to materialize sooner rather than later!

In other words, don’t just THINK about doing it, JUST DO IT!

Excellent point. Thank you for adding to the conversation. The book I’m reading is really into affirmations. I think they can be useful in changing mental attitudes and outlook, but you have a great point that they’re useless unless you move on an take action.
