Absolutely. A poor domain choice can spoil an otherwise great site by giving the wrong impression about you or your organization. It can even insult those who see it in search results and prevent them from clicking through to your site.
I found an absolutely wonderful example of choosing a poor domain name over at OneMansGoal.com.

Since Barack Obama’s site doesn’t have this web address, I have to assume that this is a copy site from a well-meaning supporter (or perhaps a non-supporter?). But really, Loser.com? You’ve gotta see it to believe it. Anyone know someone at the Obama campaign to alert them to this problem? I’m still an undecided voter, but this just doesn’t feel quite right.
Be careful out there when picking a domain name. Consider the consequences of a poor choice. Consider how the name reflects on you or your organization. And, if you’re famous, maybe consider having someone browsing around the internet watching out for copy sites.

Seems like domain names that start with A, B, or C always are a good choice. They naturally appear at the top of alpha lists and get lots more eyeball time that way!

Hadn’t thought of that one. Good idea.
