Principle 14: Gain interest with information about the customer. (Not your company, your product, or you.)
“Always leave him (the merchant) in such a frame of mind that he will be glad to have you call again.”—John Patterson
How to apply this principle to blogging stumped me at first. Then I realized that the main message for a blogger here is to focus on supplying great, useful information for the readers. Focus on the readers and what they want to learn, are interested in, or problems they are looking to solve, and you’ll develop readers who will look forward to checking in at your blog to see what you have to say today.
Provide real value and you’ll attain real, loyal readers.
See how you can relate the following quote to your blogging endeavors:
“If you walk in with information about you, they consider you a salesman. If you walk in with ideas and answers, they consider you a resource. Which one are you?”—Jeffrey Gitomer
