Creating Your Own eBook

March 6th, 2008 · 2 Comments

pen-and-paper.jpg Ok, I admit it. I’m currently in the throes of creating an e-book so my posting has slowed down and shortened.

I’ve done my research, checked out the competition, selected a topic, created a title for my masterpiece, purchased a matching domain name, ordered a graphics package, and completed my initial outline.

Now, the blank page awaits.

But wait, my outline is my friend. With it in place, it doesn’t really matter where I start writing or how long I write on a given point. I can hop, skip, and jump around to my heart’s content. Write on a point until I get bored or stuck, then pick something else to work on.

Who knew that something my English teacher told me about way back in highschool (and which I hated doing back then) would turn out to be so useful in real life.

Whether you’re a writing pro or just starting your first e-book project, dig in and do your research first. And definitely spend time creating a great outline to support your beautiful writing.

Please keep the notes coming on the ebook project. I look forward to seeing how it progresses and if you have any tips for those of us considering something similar.

Thank you, David. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as I progress. I’m finding that the hardest part is getting started. Once the outline is in place and everything is organized, it gets easier to sit down and work on the book. The point right now is to get the writing going and let it flow. I can always tweak it later.
